Dealing with PDF documents
The PDF electronic document standard is central to compiling HIPs.
In order to contribute to any HIP, you will need to be familiar
with viewing, creating, and editing PDF files.
Only PDF documents may be added to HIPs. Graphic files (JPGs, TIFs, BMPs, etc.)
should be formatted within a PDF file before uploading. Non-A4 sized documents will
also be blocked by the production site on upload.
Creating/Editing/Saving PDF files.
The following software products are recommended to allow you to create (by
means of "print to PDF"), modify,
and save PDF files:
Adobe Acrobat Standard
Cute PDF Filler, Professional
You will also be able to resize larger documents down to A4.
Faxing Documents to HIPAG's production centre
Faxing results in a poor print quality, and strips any colour from a submitted document. However, we do offer a fax number (0845 280 6600) to our production centre. You
must use our cover sheet if doing so.
Scanning from Paper to PDF
In order to convert paper documents to electronic PDF format you will need a scanner.
Scanners have undergone a revolution in ease of use in the last few years. If you do not deploy a scanner you will face difficulty in contributing documents to HIPs
effectively. Click here for more details on scanning.
